Roel de Haan : It has been three years since Infestus surprised me with the astounding album ‘Ex | Ist’, but now finally the successor ‘The Reflecting Void’ is here! Infestus continues on its chosen path of intricate black metal defined by bleak and depressed atmospheres created through lush instrumentation. It hard to not to acknowledge the sheer intelligence with which Infestus invokes such primal feelings. Its quality is simply obvious for everyone with a musical ear. The music is complex in structure and of above average technicality. Melancholy melodies, raw aggression, introspective acoustics and bluesy guitars go hand in hand and culminate in a coherent but diverse musical outlet of a clearly high personal nature. You almost feel like a voyeur into someone’s mind. ‘The Reflecting Void’ is once again a stellar accomplishment in atmospheric and even progressive black metal. Impressive to say the least.
