Johan Z. : A split of four Canadian bands which I unfortunately did not know until now and after this split I am about to change that. Forteresse kicks off and they do so notable, the pedal to the metal with this one. They have a distinctive feature, a constant keyboardriff which only has one break somewhere in the middle which contribute to a strange atmosphere. A nice start on to the next one, Chasse-Galerie performs a little more melodic variety but at a similar pace as the previous band, terrible production for a decent song. Next up: Monarque, this reminds me of the early Burzum. Again high paced and a very raw production with a unnerving ambiance. Csejthe has the honours of ending the split and they have a much lower pace that the other. In sound and style it does remind of the very early Shining, except for the vocals which a very far in the background. All together an interesting release and if black such as Drudkh is your thing, this is worth your time.
