Pim B. : What a development this Swedish band has gone through. Their debut ‘Sleepers In The Rift’ was remarkable because of the artwork. Musically that one was all about Swedish death metal and Autopsy. Their EP ‘A Saunter Through The Shroud’ already showed a band that started to follow their own path. Now that ‘Sweven’ has been released we can say that EP was definitely a transition. What the band shows on ‘Sweven’ is remarkable. This is progressive death metal seldom heard. If I should mention three bands of which I think I can tell how this album sounds it would be Darkthrone from their ‘Soulside Journey’ era, old Katatonia and Voivod. Put these bands in a blender and you come close to the way Morbus Chron sounds on this album. You probably won’t get it all after listening to this once, but you will hear it is a special album. To a lot of fans the Tribulation belonged to the top releases of 2013. I can already tell that Morbus Chron will be in a similar position in 2014. Interesting albums like this you simply don’t get to hear all the time. A mandatory release.
