Cor : Actually I kind of lost track of this band after the purchase of the only album I own of these guys; ‘Return To Rock ‘n’ Roll’. The straight forward garage punk rock was good enough for now and then, but I didn’t have the urge to keep following this band; one cannot keep up with everything. This newest release was a pleasant surprise indeed. The band has certainly grown; without the loss of expressiveness, this is no longer small-time sloppy; I even dare to say they have a pretty optimal balance between brute power and clear overview. Also the song material has been worked on very hard in terms of variation and catchy arrangements. From the technical point of view especially the guitars have improved hugely (compared with the only album I know). There is some truly great riffing and soloing on this album (listen to the timing and power in ‘Black Leather’ for instance). Not everything has changed; the lyrics are still (almost trivial) cliché. But hey, if everything else is more than okay, you’ll scream along instantly and I can guarantee it’s hard to sit still when listening to this one. Some creative references are build in some songs by the way: ‘Hard To Handle’ elements in ‘Eaten Alive’ and ‘Sympathy For The Devil’ background choirs in ‘If I Could’. A surprising renewed acquaintance; I guess one band more band to keep my eyes on for the future.
