Roel de Haan : The German band Faulnis is back with a third full length album called ‘Snuff // Hiroshima’. Predecessor ‘Gehirn Zwischen Wahn Und Sinn’ was a quite impressive slab post black/punk metal with deranged vocals and a true sense of insanity and urban loneliness. Faulnis more or less continues in this path, but ‘Snuff // Hiroshima’ seems more accessible and coherent. The production is more streamlined, the punk attitude toned down a notch and the songs are composed less chaotic. What remains is the sense of complete agony and disheartenment. Through the increased coherence the madness and bleak outlook on life are more direct than before. Make no mistake this is still not for the faint of heart. Like an angry Lantlos with a score to settle, ‘Snuff // Hiroshima is Faulnis’ way of saying everyone on this should die already. Excellent stuff!
