Pim B. : Shallow River’s hails from Moscow and their debut normally wouldn’t lead to any criticism. Everything is done really well. From artwork to the great sounding recordings. This melodic doom/death metal would be a great addition to any collection of the fan of the genre.
I can hear you think: “Where is the but?” Well, here it is! But, ‘Nihil Euphoria’ doesn’t contain a single second that can be called original. The diehard fan of the genre will be able to hum along after a single listening session. That’s a shame, as the band clearly has potential. They are chained to the boundaries of the genre in which everything has been done. It’s like listening to a mixture of Paradise Lost, Mourning Beloveth and Swallow The Sun. Where is that spark of originality?
