Winston : For their third album the base band members Kyle Haws, Jeren Martin and Clay Withrow invited a solo guitarist (Jay Gleason) into the studio. Vangough, because that is the band in question here presents, after leaving that studio, a beautiful album 'Between The Madness'. And it is a nice progression after the album 'Kingdom Of Ruin’ from 2011. There is a lot of spice and variety in this third album of the band and the sound has become more their own. There are still the influences of Dream Theater, but now much less and in place Tool and Devin Townsend come around the corner. The art of building and dosing is learned and therefore the album and its’ music breathes more. Withrow sings everything diligently and that is certainly a charm but it sometimes goes too far and so it loses expression. But that must be the enthusiasm, so it’s not to taken too bad. Good continuation of these American proggers!
