Koen B. : 1986 was a mindboggling year for heavy metal with 'Master Of Puppets' being released as well as 'Somewhere In Time', 'Reign In Blood', 'Peace Sells…', 'Pleasure To Kill', 'Epicus Doomicus Metallicus', 'Remnants Of War', 'Darkness Descends', 'Doomsday For The Deceiver', 'Game Over', 'Obsessed By Cruelty', 'Morbid Visions', '5150', 'Carnivore', 'Fatal Portrait', 'Rage For Order', 'Possessed By Fire', 'Energetic Disassembly' and even 'The Final Countdown'!
One of the best speed / thrash metal albums of 1986 definitely was 'The Force' by Onslaught. The band started as a punk / hardcore outfit back in the days and released the raw 'Power From Hell' LP in 1985. 'The Force' was the first release on Under One Flag Records and could easily be considered as an instant classic when it first appeared. AFM Records recently re-released a remastered anniversary edition of 'The Force' so it's available on the market again. Even 27 years after its initial release, 'The Force' is an essential release for every heavy / thrash metal fan to own. The album hasn't lost any of its relevance and every song is a shot that will take you back in time when thrash metal was pure and original. There are absolutely no filler tunes on this album so if you missed it back then, you don't want to miss it now! There are some nice Dynamo Open Air pictures in the booklet as well, so those who were there will be delighted. I was there!
