Ophidian Forest / Haeresiarchs Of Dis - Darkest Origins

Label : UW Records | Archive under black metal

Release type: Split cd

Roel de Haan : 'Darkest Origins' is a split release by Ophidian Forest and Haeresiarchs Of Dis and features the early (previously unreleased) works of both bands. Ophidian Forest's part consists of noisy raw black metal in the vein of old Darkthrone with some Ancient, and early Gehenna influences. Clearly this is a demo, as the sound is amateurish and playing basic. Some background synths do provide something fresh, but overall this is really only for the obscurantists. Haeresiarchs Of Dis nowadays plays furious, chaotic black metal with many Emperor influences, however on this 'Dis' and other previously unreleased demo tracks, the chaos, fury and freshness wasn't yet as sophisticated it is now. Emperor's very early music serves as a main inspirational source and although one can recognise the talent present, the overall quality leaves much to be desired. Only interesting for rabid fans of this band.
