Berto : Simply undeniable fun, that is how you can best describe 'The Subliminal Fears' by the German band Battue. Their brand of thrash is a mix between the fast work of Dew-Scented and the groove of Kreator and does indeed sound very German. Throughout the whole album they charge through eleven varied songs with great riffs. Take 'Slaves Of Hate' or 'Nuclear Death' for instance or any other song, they all sound awesome because of the clear and heavy production. This is one of those albums that you can play again and again without getting bored, no matter how many times you have heard it done by other bands. Don't be misled by the quiet start to 'Chaos ('Til The End) because after a while the song picks up speed like in all the songs before until closer 'You Are Dead Before You Die'. With this album, their third, Battue deserves a place among the top German thrash bands.
