Tormentor Erich : There are a couple of metal albums which give people some kind of primal feeling. Those albums might not be technical brilliant, but because of their power, efficiency and simplicity they do bring out that "Hell Yeah!” feeling in listeners.
Old recordings from trios such as Sodom, Celtic Frost and Venom are among those releases. And yes, also this Polish combo named Voidhanger gives me that feeling via their debut full length 'Wrathprayers'. The big difference between Voidhanger and the other bands that are mentioned here is the fact that these guys are not committing themselves to one particular style of extreme metal. 'Wrathprayers' is a very pleasant mixture of thrash, death and black metal. Typical thrash riffs are nicely combined with Possessed sounding guitars ('The Vampire Of Beuthen') and every now and then also some cool hyper speed parts drop by whom are played according to the preferred brand of bands such as Marduk. Everything is mastered in the Hertz Studio (Vader and Behemoth) and it sounds very compact. Mister Zyklon, Warcrimer and Priest (whom you might know from their former groups Iperyt, Infernal War or Massemord) are playing fast and tight, but they don't overdo it. All of this results in nine tracks who clock together only about thirty-two minutes of music. But this short playing time is according to me no big deal. 'Wrathprayers' stands for a short but hard musical punch in the face, and there is nothing wrong with that!
