MoL : Inner Response is a band from Banska Bystrica, Slovakia. The band send us their debut album. This debut was released at their own expense. The artwork looks good and with the CD came a very kind to please review the album. A request that is at the right address at Lords Of Metal.
The core of the band is made out of two guitarists, Peter Kmec and Juraj Bucko. Katka Steskova soon joined these guitarists on bas. A singer and a drummer were not found for a long time. Luckily the talented singer Peter Knietel was later found. The band is still looking for a drummer, as can be read in the credits where the drumming is attributed to 'Robo'. Musically the band is in the progressive corner of the death/thrash metal genre. This means next to grunts also clean vocals. Next to the harder parts the album also holds a lot of resting points. For example the song 'Burn My Soul', which starts slowly, but explodes towards the end. The last song '….. And The Worlds Collide….' hits the clock at seven minutes and eighteen seconds and demonstrates the variety the band lets us hear throughout the album. Qualitative the album is just fine. The mix is very good and also the singer appears to be a talent that can deal with many different styles. The two guitar players who are the base of the band also take care of some excellent solo's.
This album is worth your time if you are into modern, progressive metal. Since the band made the album freely available as a download it is made very easy to check it out. Now I am a fan of older styles of metal and therefore normally not really fond of progressive stuff, but after a few spins one can hear that this is a band with potential.
