Wilco : When a label promotes their act as a top act that can compete with bands like At The Gates, Carcass, Morbid Angel and Malevolent Creation, I tend to become very critical. When the mentioned act is from Italy and just issued their second album since 1999 I am ready to crush its album with my mighty pen. When this act is that exceptionally good, why did it take ten years to issue the second album?
Maybe we will get the answer to the gruesome question once, because I was somewhat prejudiced.
This Italian death metal band sounds surprisingly solid, massive and now and then even quite interesting. The sound is quite good, but the drums could do with some extra power. The overall sound is heavy and has you tap your feet along for the entire duration of the album. I am not that fond of the vocals though, the ultra low grunt is ok, but there is no vocal variation at all. This lack of variation affects the aggressive sound that the music certainly builds up. The acts mentioned above are certainly audible when listening to this album. But still, this is an 'easy listening' brutal death metal album with enough features to keep you interested without getting too complicated. The songs lack an identity of their own however. After listening to this album two times the songs start to resemble one another. This is a very suitable album for the death metal fanatics that don't eat everything but have some standards, because the quality is above average to say the least.
