Sjak : Place Vendome is the collaberation between Pink Cream 69 members Dennis Ward (bass), Kosta Zafiriou (drums), Uwe Reitenauer (guitar), Vandenplas-keyboard player Gunther Werno and ex-Helloween vocalist Michael Kiske, who despite his intention never to create heavy metal again (luckily), reconsidered and decided to go for this second Place Vendome album. In 2005 the very good debut album was released and almost four years later this is followed by this 'Streets Of Fire'. And also this second Place Vendome record is a very convincing effort!
Place Vendome couples in a very beautiful way melody to power and that account for a number of memorable moments. The title track opens the album in a great way and immediately showcases the true power of this outfit. The melodic riffs are excellent, the supporting keyboards are a great addition to this and Michael Kiske displays that he can still sing. Also the following 'My Guardian Angel', of which a video clip has been shot, is right on target. That certainly also accounts for 'Follow Me', 'Valerie' and 'Changes', but I might as well name all the songs on the album here. I therefore truly hope that Michael Kiske will keep on ignoring his previous intentions not to do heavy metal again, because it would be a shame if this band would leave it at this. In my opinion, this is certainly one of the best records of this month!
