First off, congratulations on a very nice and enjoyable album. Could you tell our readers a bit more about how a young girl got involved in the rock side of music?
Thank you!! When I was fourteen I attended a School of Rock summer camp and that was when I was first exposed to rock music. I got to cover songs by Blondie, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and the Rolling Stones. From then on, I really fell in love with the women of the 80s like Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks, and Lita Ford.

Are the songs on your album all freshly penned, or did you use your back catalogue or outside writers?
I didn't have any back catalogue going into writing the record, so every day a new song was created on the spot. With this album, I went into a writing session every day and wrote with a different songwriter or producer each time, and it was really cool because I was able to pick up on a lot of melody and lyric tricks.

band imageHow do you approach song writing? Where do you start? Lyrics first or music?
Each song has a slightly different process, but I usually like to come up with the concept of the song before anything and then create the main melody and lyrics to an acoustic guitar. I find it easier to write the actual song first and then build the instrumentation later.

Was the album a band effort or where the musicians hired for the album?
Rather than writing with band members because I am a solo artist, I wrote all my music along with other songwriters! I did however have some incredible musicians play on the album like Kevin Thrasher, Phil X, Trev Lukather, and Joe Rickard.

If you were asked to describe yourself as a person and artist, how would you do this?
I would say I am very dynamic and multidimensional, I have always considered myself to be fierce and strong, but lately I have been embracing my more vulnerable sides. With this album especially, I tried to incorporate all sides of me into the music.

what are your next plans after the album? Is there a tour lined up?
I'm definitely wanting to tour at least until the end of the year! Right now I am on a two month tour with Bad Wolves on their tour with Five Finger Death Punch, Breaking Benjamin, and Nothing More. I would like to start writing again because I'm already excited to get back in the studio.

Do you master an instrument yourself?
No I wish! I tried to pick up guitar and piano when I was younger but never had the patience to stick it out through the novice phase and actually get better haha.

Is there anything you would like to share with our readers that has not been covered by the above questions
Yes! Because 'Coming In Hot' is my first full-length album, it really has a lot of sentimental value. The writing and recording process was about eighteen months long, writing almost every day, and crazy long hours each day. It's like my baby and I am just so excited that it is finally out in the world. Thank you guys so much for all the support and I hope to see you out on the road soon!
