It was in 1979. A little guy with his parents watches the Dutch music show TopPop on tv. From that moment on, his life will change dramatically. A band called KISS scores a world hit with 'I Was Made For Lovin' You ' that year and that's not going to go unnoticed to the little Henk (and his whole family). From that moment on, one after another KISS LP is bought. As music is very important during his childhood, an instrument must also be chosen. Of course, that's the most cool instrument out there, the drum set. In the early 1980s, Henk became interested in bands like Iron Maiden and Dio. LP's one could lend from the public library to tape them at home. Later in puberty there were of course the big four, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth.
For Lords Of Metal I am writing about all kinds of metal after having reacted to the hard rock / AOR vacancy. Since I can appreciate a lot of different rock and metal, the thrash, power and heavy metal releases also find their way to my (digital) mailbox. In addition to writing for Lords Of Metal, I work for a large Swedish furniture giant and also coach a junior American Football team. I am happily married to Paula with who I have two sons, Jeffrey and Tim. Both, big rock and metal enthusiasts with whom I regularly go to concerts.
KISS, The Dead Daisies, Sabaton, Alter Bridge, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Stone Sour, Slipknot, Europe, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Suicidal Tendencies, Monster Truck and many many more!
