Eddy

Eddy Meuwese was born on September the 12th 1967, in Venlo to be precise. If you happen to see him, you could ask the question; " What kind of origin is this dude?" Well let me tell you, his father is Indonesian and his mother is Hungarian. This all created this mix.

I first got in touch with hardrock in 1977, when my friend Danny (played in a punkband called Pandemonium when he was older) showed me his copy of “Alive” from KISS. I was ten years old but those painted faces and those screaming guitar made me decide I was going to love hardrock.
Soon I became multiple personalities. In normal live I was Eddy Meuwese, but when I closed my roomdoor behind me I became Ace Frehley. Out of wood I made a guitar, put on the “Alive” en played the concert from A to Z. I was the best.
Two years later, Danny bought the UFO album, "Strangers In The Night" and the first one Van Halen . Man, what did I get excited from songs like "Running With The Devil" and "Doctor, Doctor", I also bought those records.

1988 was my first time I got in touch with writing and publishing. I started a Kiss fanclub; "The Dutch Firehouse Magazine." In those days I published eight issues, all made up with a typewriter and rubbing letters. With a Xerox-machine I multiplied the magazines. Of course I also did send a copy to the Kiss-headquarters in New York City . I didn’t expect too much from this, but weeks later I received a letter with the Kiss-logo on it. With shaking hands I did open the envelope, and immediately I saw the four autographs from the Kiss members from that time. Those autographs were not printed, they were real. A dream came true.

The letter said I would get all co-operations from Kiss in making my little magazine. Should I like to get some pressphotos or interviews, just call and I would get it. Next step in promotioning my magazine was the Dutch radio. I send a copy to the people from a radioshow called: “Vara’s Vuurwerk” and to my surprise they also reacted. I had to do a little interview with that radioguy, I was nervous, but he pulled me through.

In 1991 I lost my interest in KISS. When they release “Crazy Night” it all got to boring to me. For many years I kept silence and didn’t do any publishing. But in the year 2002 I was back in the public eye. Photography and Internet was a perfect match. Internet opened the doors to the world for my photography and me. A perfect place to show your art to the world. One of my personal highlights since then was Kodak chose one of my photos to be “Picture Of The Day” on January the 27th 2003. On that day my photo was showed every ten minutes on a big display on Times Square. Another highlight I’m working on right now is I getting the chance to design all the artwork for a CD. The project is Frozen Rain, an aor-project from Kurt Vereecke from Belgium.

And now I get the chance to be a Lord of Metal, I hope you will enjoy my input. My personal website: http://www.eddymeuwese.com
