Vera

I am Vera 'Gothica', living in the suburbs of Antwerp (B). Music and writing; these are my favourite occupations since I decided to take some notes at my first concert, at the age of twelve. Both passions are still my most important hobbies. Since 2000 this results in writing articles. I love to go to concerts, do interviews and listen to CD's thinking about a suitable description. My former metal site just decided to stop, that's why I'm happy to start at Lords of Metal (we are talking about September 2003 right here). Death, black and doom metal are my main favourite styles, with a preference for epic, dark, melancholic moods in the music. In addition I always loved a kind of heroic touch in music, that explains my passion for Viking metal, Manowar and even symphonic and power metal. I started with classic bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and Uriah Heep. I evolved to AC/DC and the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal in the eighties and to a more extreme kind of music like above mentioned styles in the nineties (hail to grunts!). Bands like Opeth, My Dying Bride, Amon Amarth, Saturnus, Primordial, Novembers Doom and Draconian are the ultimate top for me, but I also like grunge, stoner rock, prog metal, gothic metal and folk metal. With the contemporary popularity of Viking and folk metal I am truly happy. I don't like nu metal or industrial beats. And don't judge me by my nickname because as a matter of facts I'm not fond of female vocals in a bunch of blast beats. In the end, being a real music addict, I can appreciate the good things in every (sub)genre of metal.
