The Band Of Gypsys Reloaded
Dit concert bestaat niet of is reeds geweestJean-Paul Bourelly is the Jimi Hendrix of the new century. He is acclaimed the best interpreter of Jimi`s music world wide. Born in Chicago he also has a very deep Blues sound combined with a rough and noisy approach to this music, that gives him a very unique position in the music business. He also works with

Rap music and styles of heavy Funk and Rock. Seeing Bourelly live on stage is a great experience always.

Bourelly was the co-founder of the Black Rock Coalition in NYC in the 80`s. He worked with numerous different musicians such as Miles Davis, Pharoah Sanders, Elvin Jones and McCoy Tyner on one side and Vernon Reid of Living Colour, Noise legend Elliott Sharp and the Rappers of D-Nice on the other side. He produced, played and recorded with the legendary Cassandra Wilson, cooperated with Lenny Kravitz' drummer Cindy Blackman as well as with Rolling Stones bassist Darryl Jones and Blues legend Taj Mahal.

Drummer/composer Cindy Blackman is certainly best known as the grooving heart of rock star Lenny Kravitz’ band. But she’s also well known as a powerful drummer and percussionist from the hard-bop mold. Cindy Blackman decided at the age of eight that she was going to be a drummer and she began her musical career as a New York street performer. After college, her love of jazz drew her to New York City in the 80’s, where she became friends with many of her drumming heroes, including Art Blakey, Elvin Jones and Tony Williams and since that time, she has been seen and heard by millions of people all over the world performing with her own group and also with Lenny Kravitz, and everybody who have seen Lenny's band live since she became the official drummer live for him would acclaim her talent.

Bass legend Melvin Gibbs has been called "the best bassist in the world" by Time Out New York magazine. A well-respected veteran of the New York music scene, he has contributed his singular talents to major artists in many diverse genres of music, appearing on close to 200 albums. He is probably best known as a member of the Rollins Band (of hardcore poet Henry Rollins) and ensembles of Arto Lindsay. A short list of other artists he has played bass with would include World Saxophone Quartet, John Scofield, Joshua Redman, Eddie Palmieri, Oliver Lake, Lester Bowie and David Murray among others.

The BAND OF GYPSYS RELOADED is a tribute to the short but very intense time Jimi Hendrix was playing with this trio from December ’69 to March ‘70. The audience will experience an overwhelming mix of Blues, Rock and Funk with one of the most powerful line-ups touring these days.
